Our Volunteers

We have created some volunteer profiles which you can read here to learn more about our volunteers and their experiences.

My journey with Holidays with Help began over two decades ago, and I am proud to say that I've grown from a volunteer to a trustee. The charity organises 3 to 4 holidays per year in various locations around the UK, catering to individuals with physical, sensory, intellectual, social and behavioural disabilities. The final holiday of the year, a Tinsel & Turkey weekend held in late November or early December, is a festive tradition that brings joy to both guests and volunteers.

During these holidays, I take on the role of a carer, supporting guests in their daily activities and ensuring their well-being and safety. The responsibilities range from assisting with mealtimes and pushing wheelchairs, to supervising finances and being someone, they can call on. Despite the hard work involved, we spend a lot of time laughing.

As a trustee, I use evenings and weekends to support the charity's mission. Volunteering as a carer during one holiday each year allows me to directly contribute to the well-being and happiness of individuals facing unique challenges. The sense of satisfaction and pride derived from helping someone enjoy a holiday and brightening their week, month, or even year is truly unmatched.

Beyond the joy we bring to our guests, the experience has taught me the profound impact of taking time away from the stresses of daily life. It's a reminder that holidays are not just a luxury but a necessity for physical and mental well-being. The opportunity to create a vibrant and engaging holiday atmosphere, even amidst challenges, is something I cherish. I am grateful for the chance to contribute to Holidays with Help and witness first hand the positive impact it has on the lives of those we serve.
